4-Why Sedona?

Sedona has long been known as a magical and sacred place to native people throughout the ages and has often been described as one of the most powerful “high-energy” places on earth. Some modern-day tourists visit for the stunning natural beauty and hiking, some are drawn to the many magnificent art galleries, shopping and dining opportunities, some are even artists or spiritual seekers who go to be inspired, but many describe an inexplicable “calling” to go - and once they experience Sedona, come home transformed...

In the year 2000, Like many who have ventured to Sedona, I too experienced a “calling”. I knew little to nothing about the place, had never hiked or owned a pair of hiking boots in my life and had no idea what to expect when I got there. All I knew was I HAD to go, and this would be the first time I had ever traveled 100% solo to a place I had never been.

After flying in to Phoenix and taking the Phoenix-Sedona shuttle, I can still remember being utterly transfixed when I caught my first glimpse of the breathtaking red rock formations – it was like nothing I had ever seen or felt before. The next day I decided to try out my brand new hiking boots and head over to one of the “Vortex” sites I had read about called “Bell Rock”. As I approached the mountain, I started to hear what sounded like – DRUMMING!?? All I knew is I kept looking up at Bell Rock and thought, “Climb! I need to go up and find out where this sound is coming from!!”

A part of me felt like this was utterly crazy, but before I could stop myself and catch up with my sense of logic, my body seemed to have a mind of its own and just started climbing!I got about half way up the mountain and, lo and behold, got to meet a lovely couple who were part of the spiritual community who had been drumming. When I told them about my experience so far, they gave me the best advice I had ever received when hiking/climbing, “don't go up anywhere you are not comfortable going down!” I heeded that advice wholeheartedly! As I continued to follow my gut and the terrain that practically provided me with stair-steps, I settled on a majestic spot about ¾ up the mountain and just about felt like I could fly! After enjoying my perch for what felt like close to an hour, I decided to then hike down the other side of the mountain. When I reached the bottom, I then decided to start walking towards town. By the time I completed my trip from my hotel to Bell Rock to town and back - feet a little sore, but still feeling quite energized (even in the middle of August!) – I shared my experience with the inn-keeper who told me that I had probably hiked at least 20 miles!!!

For a girl who had NEVER hiked or climbed anything in her life I was STUNNED to say the least.

Evidently, Bell Rock, though known to be a place of “balanced masculine/feminine energy” has been known to give some people amazing physical stamina and boundless energy! Such was my experience, no doubt!

After that, I was in awe and couldn't wait to discover what the next vortices had in store!

Let it suffice to say that EVERY place I visited had unique energy and each gave me a special gift – but the most important gift my adventure to Sedona gave me was truly knowing and loving my SELF – and because of this, and other wonderful Sedona experiences I later got to share with my husband, I knew this would be an IDEAL place to host an ALLOWING ADVENTURE (11 years after my first trip!)!

After having enjoyed such a magnificent, fun and powerful retreat experience in November of 2011 (that participants are still talking about!), join us in September of 2012 as we enjoy the journey and share Allowing Keys, Tools, Music and Sedona's magical essence to help YOU discover and expand the magnificent human being that is YOU – especially at this powerful, pivotal time in human history!

Because this is an ALLOWING adventure (which is all about ENJOYING the journey!), we will never ask or encourage you to do anything that feels unsafe or uncomfortable, but we do encourage at least a reasonable level of health & mobility to be able to fully enjoy these amazing places.
